Artist's
Statement
'Spring seems to take forever to come the Northern New Mexico.
I call it 'the time of the thousand little snows' - when every night and
sometimes three times a day a light dusting of snow will fall. Then the
wind will come up and blow away the clouds - the sun will come out and
instantly melt the snow, leaving muddy roads for months on end. It is
also one of the most beautiful times of the year and for me a great time
to paint.
My paintings are of an imaginary world, a pre-industrial Arcadia, a time
when northern New Mexico was nothing by rural villages, usually with a
church in the center. Life was based on agriculture, and living in harmony
with the changing seasons.'
Tom Noble lives and paints in Taos, New Mexico. As
a native Taoseno, Tom has seen many changes in Taos and northern New Mexico
throughout his lifetime, but he still lives a simple and environmentally
friendly lifestyle in the semi-rural and community-oriented town that
is Taos. The inspiration for his art comes from the areas in and
around taos that remain much as they were when he was child.
